“Construction to start in spring, to be completed in 2019”
The timetable delayed by at least six months
The Korean-American Museum, a longstanding wish for Los Angeles Koreatown, is now further delayed as completion is not expected until 2019.

“Construction will begin this spring and we’re looking at a completion date at the start of 2019,” said a report released by the Korean-American Museum. Initially, it was announced that the museum will start its construction this past September.

The Korean-American Museum explained that the approval by the city government on construction plans was delayed, even though 95 percent of the legwork for it has already been completed. The report explained that the approval is expected in the “coming months.”

The recently announced plan of building an apartment and museum hybrid has also been partly edited. The museum explained that the rooftop of the property has been redesigned and included in the proposal.

The list of donors for the museum’s construction was also partly announced.
“After having started on July 21 last year, the fundraiser is still ongoing successfully,” the museum said. “We’ve already raised 75 percent of the funding we need.”

However, the museum did not disclose the total amount of donation as well as how much it would need for the construction project.

The museum added that it will announce further plans in April.
