NHN KCP to Build Korea’s First Payment-Focused Mainnet with Avalanche
- Jointly discovering new global cross-border payment businesses based on stablecoins and tokenized deposits NHN KCP (CEO Park Jun-seok), a total payment service provider, is partnering with Ava Labs (the developer of the global blockchain platform Avalanche) to build a blockchain-based mainnet specialized for payments. NHN KCP announced on the 14th that it signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with Ava Labs at its headquarters in Guro-gu, Seoul, for the "establishment of blockchain-based payment infrastructure and stablecoin payment systems." Avalanche is an open-source blockchain platform that allows for the creation of independent blockchain networks based on high performance and scalability. It is currently gaining significant attention as a next-generation blockchain standard among major financial institutions and enterprises worldwide. This agreement aims to supplement the limitations of existing payment infrastructure and build a payment architecture optimized for the global market. The two companies will develop a payment-specialized mainnet for NHN KCP based on Ava Labs' Ava Cloud technology. NHN KCP will lead the system architecture design based on its payment expertise and work closely with Ava Labs to ensure seamless integration with existing payment systems. The two companies will co-develop a payment-specialized mainnet integrating ultra-fast payment authorization and on-chain encryption technology, establishing a payment ecosystem that provides this as a merchant-customized infrastructure. The technical core of this cooperation is driven by three primary pillars: First, providing ultra-fast authorization by achieving sub-one-second payment processing; second, maximizing security by encrypting sensitive transaction data—such as payment and merchant settlement amounts—directly on-chain; and finally, establishing an environment to supply independent, dedicated mainnets and digital wallets for each merchant. Furthermore, both companies will jointly explore new business opportunities in digital commerce and global payments, including: ▲Tokenized Deposit Models ▲Multi-Stablecoin Settlement Structures ▲Cross-border Payments (Global B2B overseas payment and settlement) Following a Proof of Concept (PoC) stage to verify technical feasibility, the strategy includes expanding connections with global financial and payment partner networks. Jun-seok Park, CEO of NHN KCP, stated, “This agreement is highly significant as it combines NHN KCP’s industry-leading payment operational expertise with world-class blockchain technology to derive an innovative model that can be immediately applied to real-world business.” He added, “Based on rigorous technical verification, we will continue to discover and concrete business models that can shift the paradigm of the future payment market.” 정현식 기자avalanche payment payment infrastructure payment architecture existing payment
