“2025 Sungkyun Institute of China Studies Annual International Conference” Advances China-Korea Academic, Cultural, and Diplomatic Exchanges
On December 6, the 2025 International Academic Conference of the Sungkyun Institute of China Studies (成均中国研究院) was held at Suseon Hall, Seoul Campus, Sungkyunkwan University. Scholars in international relations from leading Chinese and Korean universities—including Peking University, Tsinghua University, The University of Hong Kong, The Chinese University of Hong Kong, Seoul National University, Hankuk University of Foreign Studies, Sungkyunkwan University, and Sookmyung Women’s University—as well as diplomatic experts and practitioners from relevant industries and research institutions, including the Sejong Institute, the National Assembly Library of Korea (韩国国会图书馆), and the Korean Council of Foreign Relations, gathered to engage in in-depth, candid, and constructive discussions on the theme of “China and the International Order（中国与国际秩序）”. At the opening ceremony, Shin Bong-kil (申凤吉), current President of the Korean Council on Foreign Relations (韩国外交协会), former Ambassador of Korea to India, and the first Secretary-General of the Trilateral Cooperation Secretariat (TCS), delivered the opening remarks. During a break in the conference, Li Hao, the Korean representative of the CRI Shandong Channel “China-Korea Sister City Exchange Project,” provided Shin with a detailed introduction to this year’s sister-city exchanges between Shandong Province in China and various regions in Korea. Shin welcomed this. Li Hao noted that the city branding and friendship exchange event recently held in late November at Yantai Penglai International Airport in Shandong received strong support from TCS representatives. He also expressed hope that next year there will be more extensive and deeper friendly cooperation between TCS, the Korean Council on Foreign Relations, and Shandong Province in the areas of cultural-tourism collaboration and diplomatic exchanges between China and Korea. The conference concluded positively, highlighting the active engagement of scholars, experts, and practitioners from China and Korea in academic exchanges, cultural-tourism collaboration, and diplomatic dialogue.
