Branksome Hall Asia Partners with Killer Whales to Elevate Ice Hockey Program
Branksome Hall Asia, a leading international school in Jeju, announced a new partnership with Korea’s premier youth ice hockey club, Killer Whales, aimed at enhancing the school’s ice hockey program starting in the 2025–26 academic year. This partnership will strengthen the program’s quality and structure, providing students with access to highly specialized and professional training. One of the most significant developments in this partnership is Youngjun Lee joining the team as Head Coach for the U12, U15 and U19 divisions. A former member of the Korean National Ice Hockey Team, Coach Lee is widely recognized as one of Korea’s most accomplished players. Since his national team debut in 2012, he has earned honors such as Asia League Rookie of the Year, becoming the youngest player to reach 100 career points, and being named a 2024 IIHF “Role Model Athlete.” He will lead training at Branksome Hall Asia and work closely with expert coaching staff to deliver a world-class development program. Branksome Hall Asia is home to Jeju’s only ice rink and is among the very few schools in Asia with an Olympic-sized rink located on campus. Through this partnership, the school will offer customized and developmentally appropriate training programs, including skill-based group training, dryland conditioning, and small-group private lessons. For younger or beginner-level skaters, the school will expand access through programs such as "Cubs on Ice" and the newly introduced “POND Hockey” initiative. The partnership also includes plans to co-host domestic and international tournaments, enabling students to gain real-game experience and deepen their understanding of global sports culture. These opportunities will further support student-athletes in developing both skill and character on and off the ice. Blair Lee, Head of Branksome Hall Asia, commented, “This partnership marks an important milestone in creating a more professional and safe environment for our student-athletes to grow and thrive. We are proud to offer a program of this caliber and remain committed to supporting our students’ holistic development through world-class education.” Branksome Hall Asia offers the full continuum of the IB (International Baccalaureate) program from Junior Kindergarten through Grade 12. With an Olympic-sized rink on campus, skating is integrated into the regular physical education curriculum, reflecting the school’s commitment to delivering outstanding learning opportunities both in and beyond the classroom. 정현식 기자partners program ice hockey hall asia new partnership
