Monochrome Painter Jaewon Jung to Hold Solo Exhibition

Jae Won Jung, a monochrome abstract painter known for expressing the philosophy of space-time, creation, and dissolution, will hold her solo exhibition 〈THE WAY THINGS GO〉 from September 22 to 24 at NY COSMOS Gallery (formerly New York K&P Gallery), located in the heart of Chelsea, Manhattan.   In this solo exhibition 〈THE WAY THINGS GO〉, Jung explores the process of creation and dissolution within space-time through collections and sequences that embody order and balance. By delving into the relational dynamics of space and time, her unique attempt to express the interaction between unexpected and unchanging elements of lines results in the ultimate vision of a monochrome painter. Her works, marked by the crossing of black lines, reveal the principles of irregularity derived from simple elements.   A representative from the gallery commented, "The gallery, located in the heart of Chelsea, Manhattan, is internationally known for contemporary art collections and exhibitions. Jung's works have already garnered significant interest and attention from collectors in New York and both domestic and international art markets. In the selection process for this solo exhibition, among many outstanding artists from countries such as the U.S., Japan, Korea, Germany, China, Italy, France, Colombia, and Turkey, Jae Won Jung's highly refined and emotionally compelling monochrome abstract works left a strong impression, which led to her finally being selected through fierce competition and invitation as a solo exhibitor.   Each piece in this exhibition compresses essence through lines reminiscent of Jung's signature Oriental mark making. The works are characterized by dynamic forms, moving lines, and an interplay of unstable balance, with restrained thicknesses of black lines and geometric cross-compositions. They feature irregular transformations in form, all reflecting the artist's philosophy of the limitless possibilities of lines. Jung remarked, "A line is not merely a drawn element, but a system of creation and dissolution," offering a glimpse into her philosophical perspective on the infinite transformation of lines in each artwork.   Jae Won Jung explores the aesthetic possibilities of painting, photography, and film, combining poetic imagery with philosophical and introspective storytelling. She uses various media, such as painting, installation art, photography, and film, to express her thoughts and emotions in unique ways. After graduating from Yonsei University in Seoul with a degree in Bachelor in Laws, Jung earned her Master of Fine Arts (MFA) in Fine Arts from the School of Visual Arts (SVA) in New York. She has actively showcased her monochrome paintings internationally, participating in solo and group exhibitions, as well as art fairs, at numerous galleries and museums in New York and Korea.      박원중 기자 ([email protected])monochrome exhibition monochrome painter this solo monochrome abstract

Professor Lee is notably the youngest among these four masters.   John Pai's exhibition took place in March and April, while the invitation exhibition of the renowned painter Kim Hwan-ki is currently ongoing.   Lee Jin-hee, as an interdisciplinary artist, explores the essence and fundamental aspects of humanity through the theme of "clothing," traversing various genres such as drama, film, theater, dance, and performance art.   Lee Jin-hee, the artist, is a comprehensive artist who continuously explores the essence and fundamentals of human nature through the theme of "clothing," engaging across various genres such as drama, film, theater, dance, and performance art.   Lee Jin-hee, who has been active for over 20 years, has been involved in more than 100 projects including dramas like 'Sungkyunkwan Scandal', 'Love in the Moonlight', 'The Lover', and films such as 'The Treacherous', 'The Great Battle', and 'An Empty Spring Dream'. The act of 'wearing clothes' completes an individual's world, and clothing is closely related to the space that constructs his world." He further remarked, "I feel an infinite sense of responsibility for being selected as an artist for this exhibition."   Meanwhile, the Korean Cultural Center New York, established in 1979, has contributed to promoting Korean culture in American society. Daniel Orphanage Students with Disabilities Hold 'Flower Hour' Charity Art Exhibition with 'Be Friend' Team

There's an upcoming charity art exhibition in Seoul titled "Flower Hour," which showcases artwork from students with disabilities at the Daniel Orphanage. The event will be held at the 'S.ONE project' gallery from 2023 August 17th to 21st.   Operated by the Daniel Social Welfare Corp., the Daniel Orphanage offers both a home and specialized education to orphans with intellectual disabilities.   This exhibition is the culmination of a collaboration between the orphanage and 'Be Friend', a volunteer team from North London Collegiate School(NLCS) in Jeju, South Korea. Over the summer vacation, they conducted a 5-week art therapy program, comprising 10 sessions. Approximately 52 creative pieces, jointly crafted by 15 students from the orphanage and the 'Be Friend' team, will be on display.   Minju Kang, a senior at NLCS Jeju and the team leader of 'Be Friend', shed light on the inspiration behind their theme. "Our art classes, over the span of five weeks, were centered on the theme of ‘flowers’ using various materials and encouraging the children to express their inner selves. Just as humans experience various stages in life, flowers too undergo different phases of growth," Kang said. She hopes visitors will find joy in the students' interpretation of the floral world, which mirrors their pure and resilient hearts.     'Be Friend' is a community service club of students from the North London Collegiate School in Jeju. Both Minju Kang and Yumin Lee led the art therapy sessions for this initiative.   If this exhibition, ‘Flower Hour’, piques your interest, make sure to visit the S.ONE project gallery located at 35 GL B/D in Seocho District, Seoul, from August 17th to 21st. The admission ticket is $8, and all the funds raised in the exhibition will be donated to the Daniel Orphanage. 강동현 기자 [email protected] exhibition daniel orphanage art exhibition friend team
