Jaewon Choi, Executive Director of the DMUN Foundation, an international non-governmental organisation representing young people in multilateral institutions, delivered a statement on behalf of the children and youth of the world at the Ministerial Opening of the High-level Segment of the Economic and Social Council, held in the United Nations General Assembly Hall. Mr. Choi, 17, addressed Heads of State and Government, ministers, ambassadors, and delegations in his capacity as the Thematic Focal Point of the United Nations Major Group for Children and Youth, a designated youth constituency at the United Nations engaging more than 20,000 youth organizations across over 50 UN processes. He is the youngest Opening Speaker of the High-level Political Forum since the creation of its predecessor, the Commission on Sustainable Development in 1992. His speech was joined by other speakers of the Opening Segment, who included H.E. Ms. Annalena Baerbock, President of the United Nations General Assembly; Mr. António Guterres, Secretary-General of the United Nations; and H.E. Mr. Lok Bahadur Thapa, President of the Economic and Social Council and Permanent Representative of Nepal to the United Nations, who chaired the meeting and delivered the keynote address. "No generation is less represented in this hall. No generation is more affected by the consequences of what this institution decides," Mr. Choi told the assembled ministers, noting that more than 400 young people, over 150 of them children, were present at this year's Forum. In his statement, Mr. Choi conveyed the messages of children and youth on the future of multilateralism and the UN80 reform process, the Sustainable Development Goals under review this year, the implementation of the Pact for the Future, and meaningful youth engagement across the United Nations system. Among the key proposals were the launch of an intergovernmental process towards a UN Convention on Sovereign Debt, the protection of stakeholder engagement functions throughout the UN80 reforms, and the establishment of a Local Community Fund for Sustainable Development. Recalling the opening words of the UN Charter, "We the Peoples",Mr. Choi closed with a direct appeal to Member States: "Do not simply listen to us. Respond, deliver, and act with us." 뉴욕 비영리단체 AHL Foundation은 2025년 AHL–Grace Charity Foundation 리서치 펠로십 수상자로 아카이브 연구자 임수아(Sooa Lim) 를 선정했다고 발표했다. 이번 펠로십은 한인 및 한인 미국인 작가들의 활동을 기록·보존하는 Archive of Korean Artists in America(AKAA) 프로젝트의 연구와 발전을 지원하는 프로그램으로, 수상자는 1년 동안 아카이브 개발과 관련 연구를 수행하게 된다. 임수아는 한국과 미국을 기반으로 활동하는 아카이비스트이자 큐레이터로, 한국예술종합학교와 파슨스 디자인스쿨 대학원에서 각각 예술경영과 디자인 역사 및 전시 기획 연구를 전공했다. 현재 코네티컷의 옥션 하우스에서 카탈로거로 근무하고 있으며, 과거 서울상상나라 및 뉴욕의 Weinberg Modern, InsideInside 등에서 전시 및 자료 관리 업무를 담당했다. 또한 아시아 디아스포라 시각문화를 다루는 디지털 플랫폼 NaUs Art Collective를 설립해 공동체 기반의 예술 아카이브를 구축해왔다. 그녀의 연구는 1980–90년대 뉴욕에서 활동한 한인문화예술단체 SEORO Korean Cultural Network를 중심으로 한인 미국인 미술가들의 활동과 세대 간 서사를 탐구하는 데 초점을 두고 있으며, 해당 연구는 한국의 SCI 등재 학술지 〈박물관학보〉 에도 게재되었다. 임수아는 “기록과 기억의 과정이 공동체의 서사를 이어가는 중요한 실천임을 다시 느낀다”며 “AKAA 연구를 통해 한인미술사의 다양성과 세대 간 연결을 조명하고 싶다”고 전했다. Year 12 students in North London Collegiate School(NLCS) Jeju, an international school located in Jeju Island, delivered a donation of 1 million won, which encapsulates their love and warm-heartedness, to the Jeju Sinwon Welfare Foundation on Friday, March 3, 2023. This donation delivered to the foundation was raised from proceeds made by year 12 students by taking part in the production and sale of activity jackets as well as other individual donations. The Sinwon Welfare Foundation extended its gratitude to the students for their warm-hearted donation and is planning to use the donation for the welfare facilities which it operates for people with severe disabilities.
